Movie Review: Twilight Saga: Eclipse

by Emily on July 20, 2010

As a self-described Twi-Mom, I can’t believe it’s taken me almost a month to see the newest movie of the Twilight series, Eclipse.  But hey, I have 2 kids in diapers.  And I think the suspense only made it sweeter.

However, the suspense before the film was the only I experienced.  The movie itself was surprisingly less violent and suspenseful than I expected.  The battle with the newborn army blew by in what felt like seconds and I was surprised that Bree hardly makes an appearance, considering her book The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, was just released (read my review here).

For fans of the novels, Eclipse -like the other movies- feels like it’s on fast-forward and you’ll find yourself wondering, “is that scene already over?”  The movie dedicates equal drama to the triangle romance between Edward, Bella and Jacob, and the newborn army evil vampire Victoria is creating in Seattle to attack the Cullens, but both seem to pass too quickly.

While I’m not very impressed with Kristen Stewart’s acting, some of the smaller characters -such as Billy Burke portraying Bella’s dad- really shine.  It’s no irritated grizzly bear, but Eclipse is certainly fun nonetheless.
